YOUTH golf camp and cultural immersion: ITiNERARY

DAY 1: JULY 16

  • Arrival in St. Andrews: Participants will fly into Edinburgh International Airport and then take a VES-chartered private coach transport to St. Andrews.
  • Welcome by VES with refreshments
  • Evening at leisure

  • Life-coaching session: Presentation of "Journeys and Stories" by Dr. Melissa Moncrieffe, Founder of VES  / Alternatively, there will be an English language session during this period for non-native English speaking campers

DAY 3: JULY 18

  • Day trip to Edinburgh: Edinburgh is a UNESCO World Heritage city. With its history of inventors, writers and scientists, Edinburgh is set in the pristine air of the North Sea and surrounded by ancient and dormant volcanoes that created Arthur’s Seat, Castle rock, on which the monumental 11th century Edinburgh Castle sits, and with a view of the Firth of Forth. Edinburgh and its surrounding areas enlivens and inspires.   
  • Explore Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile and lunch at Holyrood Castle
  • Return to St. Andrews University for dinner

  • St. Andrew's University Visit and Tour: Founded in 1413, the prestigious St. Andrew's University is the third oldest university in the English speaking world, next to Oxford and Cambridge. Participants will attend a college informational session and mock lecture and have a private tour of the city by a university guide
  • Lunch in St. Andrews
  • Explore Crail, a quaint seaside fishing village in Fife
  • Dinner in Crail
  • Evening reflections

DAY 10: JULY 25

  • Breakfast at St. Andrews University
  • 90-minute Golf Clinic at The Duke’s with PGA Professionals
  • Lunch at The Duke's Captain's Room
  • Life-coaching session: Roundtable discussion topic, "Change" / Alternatively, there will be an English language session during this period of non-native English speaking campers
  • Highland Games:  Participants have the opportunity to watch and take part in traditional Highland sports. Traditionally, the Highland Games also showcase dancing and music, and lots of family fun such as food and craft stalls and games. Many events throughout Scotland involve livestock events, parades and even best-dressed pet competitions 
  • BBQ dinner at The Duke's
  • Evening reflections, Pack and prepare for next day departure 

DAY 11: JULY 26

  • Morning Departure: Participants will take a VES-chartered private coach bus transfer from St. Andrews to Edinburgh International Airport, where they will depart

FAQS

What is total enrollment? Up to 21.


What is the adult to youth ratio? 1:7


My child has never played golf, can they still participate in the program? Yes! All golfing levels are welcome to attend and play. It's a wonderful program and place to have their first or continued experience of the game. 


How much pocket money will my child need to bring and for what? At least £300 for a meal on excursions and for souvenirs.  


Does my child need to bring golf equipment/gears? No, equipment/gears are included in the program fee. However, if your child chooses to bring their own equipment/gear, we do not object. 


How do I know my child is in safe hands? All of our staff are highly trained and have had several years of experience with children and young people, which includes being fully government checked through applicable government security parameters. Additionally, we have staff on hand who is CPR and First-Aid certified. 


How will I know my child has arrived and is with VES’s staff? Our staff will have bright identifying signs at the Dallas BA/AA Departure Gate, and at a specific meeting point in Edinburgh International Airport.  Meeting points will be shared prior to departure. We will confirm with parents/guardians of safe arrival. Participants will then be transferred from the airport to St. Andrews University housing, using VES's private coach bus transfer. 


What are the rooming arrangements? Single occupancy en-suite rooms with shared meeting rooms. Male and female students will have separate rooms, which include all bathroom and shower facilities. Privacy is paramount and will be made clear to our staff and participants. 


Do I need to provide personal insurance? It is advisable that you obtain travel insurance and medical insurance, but it is not mandatory.


Is the Program insured? Yes, and details can be provided upon request.


What kind of food will be expected? You can expect a variety of options at each of the meal times. Participants will have a combination of cooked and continental breakfasts. They will have meal choices at The Duke's Course and during their day trips to Edinburgh, St. Andrews and Crail. Evening meals will be balanced. On the excursion to Edinburgh, VES will provide snacks and water. Note: VES will ensure all dietary requirements are observed and met and you will have the opportunity to inform us prior to arrival.


What is the Cancellation Policy? Refunds (minus the Application Fee) will be granted for cancellation made by parents/guardians on or before June 7, 2026. Application and Program Fees will be refunded in all situations where the program is canceled by VES, except when there is a natural disaster, pandemic, and/or public health crisis. When an exception listed in the prior sentence occurs, VES will refund the difference between the participant’s travel insurance payout and monies paid to VES. For purposes of this cancellation policy, a natural disaster, pandemic, and public health crisis shall have the meanings defined by the United Nations. If there is a cancellation by VES, it will be by May 30, 2026.
